Kevin B. Huffman

Kevin B. Huffman, CPA, CGFM, CFE, is the Deputy Director of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury’s Division of Investigations. Kevin is responsible for overseeing and directing investigations involving fraud, waste, and abuse in local governments, state agencies, and other publicly funded entities.

Kevin began working for the Comptroller’s Office in 1996 as an auditor and contract audit reviewer in the Division of Local Government Audit. He started investigating fraud, waste, and abuse in 2009 and was promoted to Deputy Chief Investigator in 2018 and Deputy Director in 2026. In his role, he also works closely with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, local District Attorneys General, and local law enforcement groups.

Kevin received his Master of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Kevin has taught training classes for the Tennessee Department of Audit and has taught accounting and taxation as a member of the adjunct faculty for Columbia State Community College.

Prior to his state employment, Kevin served four years in the United States Marine Corps including service in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Kevin is married and has four children and four grandchildren.
