Local Government Finance

Sheila Reed is an Assistant Director in the Tennessee Comptroller’s division of Local Government Finance (LGF).

Sheila supports the division’s Director and other staff in providing oversight of Tennessee’s local governments regarding various areas of financial management. LGF oversees budgeting, borrowing, investing, and other areas directly related to the fiscal health of municipalities, counties, and utility districts. Sheila also assists in developing presentations and materials that educate local officials about fiscal health.

Sheila first joined the Comptroller’s Office in 1988 working in the division of Local Government Audit. Sheila moved to her current role in 2015. She is a Certified Public Accountant and serves on the board of the Tennessee Government Finance Officers Association.

Sheila is a graduate of Austin Peay State University where she majored in accounting and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Sheila and husband Chip enjoy gardening, hiking and walking with their dog. In her spare time, she also enjoys reading, cross-stitching, and visiting with friends and family.
