Russell Moore is the Tennessee Comptroller’s Director for the Office of Research and Education Accountability. He is responsible for guiding all OREA projects, and presenting the office’s findings to House and Senate committees. Russell also monitors the public policy landscape and proposes topics for study by OREA.

A native Tennessean, Russell joined the Comptroller’s Office in 2002 as a Legislative Research Analyst in OREA, and was promoted to Assistant Director in 2008. He became Director of OREA in 2015. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and has a Master of Social Work from UT.

Russell is also a graduate of the Tennessee Government Executive Institute and LEAD Tennessee.

Russell and his wife are the parents of three children. In his spare time Russell enjoys playing guitar, reading, hiking and traveling. You might also see Russell and his family visiting Tennessee’s beautiful state parks.
