Ben Johnson
Local Government Finance
Ben Johnson serves as a Financial and Utility Manager in the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury’s Division of Local Government Finance. In this role, he leads the division’s support of the Tennessee Board of Utility Regulation and serves as the division’s primary liaison for utility matters. He coordinates the board’s work and oversees efforts to provide assistance to utility systems and training for local officials on sound financial and operational practices.
Ben joined the Comptroller’s Office in 2016 and has supported utilities and local governments throughout his tenure with the Division of Local Government Finance. He has also served on the Comptroller’s Legislative Team and assisted with research for members of the Tennessee General Assembly.
Before joining Local Government Finance, Ben worked as an auditor in the Comptroller’s Division of State Audit. He also has private sector experience as a forensic auditor with Deloitte.
Ben earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Kentucky in 2009 and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Kentucky University in 2016.
Ben and his wife, Amie, live in Middle Tennessee with their son and goldendoodle. He enjoys spending time with his family and finding new weekend experiences for them to enjoy together. In his spare time, Ben enjoys golfing, exercising, gardening, and walking local greenways.
