Utility and Common Carrier Assessment Hearings

The Tennessee State Board of Equalization has scheduled hearings to review the 2018 ad valorem assessments of the Comptroller of Treasury for public utility and common carrier companies. 

Claims for equalization based on the appraisal ratios adopted by the Board earlier, will be granted on all assessments for which an ad valorem report was filed with the Comptroller of Treasury. If you have filed a letter of exception with the Board raising valuation, classification, or other issues, you must appear at this hearing and present evidence in support of your claim unless you have reached an agreement with the Office of State Assessed Property staff regarding the assessment or how evidence on your behalf will be presented. Appellants may be represented by an attorney or may be represented by a company officer or employee. If you have questions, please contact the office of the State Board of Equalization.

Such contact may be in person, by writing, telephonically, or otherwise, and should be made no less than three days prior to the scheduled meeting date to allow time for the Board to provide such aid or service.
