Online Utility Training
The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is pleased to offer a full program of online utilities training for board members of municipalities, utility districts, treatment authorities, energy authorities, metropolitan governments, and counties that oversee a gas, water, and/or wastewater system.
Board members are required to have:
Initial Training: Each Board member must obtain 12 hours of training within 12 months of their initial election or appointment. The initial 12 hours are only required for the first election or appointment and not subsequent elections or appointments.
Continuing Education and Training: Once a board member has satisfied their initial 12 hours after election or appointment, their continuing education period of three years begins on the following January 1st. Each board member must receive a total of 12 hours of training within a three-year period. As a best practice, it is recommended board members receive a minimum of 4 hours of training each calendar year.
