This position supports the Division of Local Government Audit by conducting audits of government entities in counties surrounding Greene and Washington counties. The role plays a key part in ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in Tennessee’s state and local government operations.

The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury is seeking a Chief Appraiser to coordinate and perform advanced appraisal work with an emphasis on commercial/industrial real property. As the Chief Appraiser within the Division of Property Assessments, you will provide appraisal assistance to local governments for property taxation purposes, coordinate the preparation and presentation of appeals, and coordinate the appraisal analysis efforts regarding commercial/industrial properties in cyclical revaluations across the state.

The Division of Property Assessments provides assistance, expertise, and oversight to the state’s property assessors and ensures effective administration of Tennessee’s property tax. The division also assists in reappraisal programs, provides technological services, and administers the Tax Relief Program. Analysts work with management, staff, other state entities and local governments to provide support in the coordination and operation of division activities.
