Financial Excellence Award
The Comptroller’s Division of Local Government Finance and Division Local Government Audit introduce the Comptroller’s Financial Excellence Award to recognize and congratulate local governments that have taken the initiative to implement and maintain excellence in the following areas:
- Budgeting
- Debt Management
- Financial Management
- Financial Oversight and Accountability
- Financial Reporting and Transparency
Local governments that are subject to both audit and budget oversight of the Comptroller’s Office may apply for the award. This includes counties, metropolitan governments, municipalities, utility districts, municipal energy authorities, water and wastewater authorities, and other utility systems, such as joint ventures.

One month after your annual audit is due to be filed with the Comptroller's Office.

Policies and Metrics Required for Eligibility
To be eligible for the Comptroller's Financial Excellence Award, a local government must have adopted the policies outlined in the below policy document. In addition, a local government must show "no concern" on all the financial metrics outlined in the below metrics document.
