Legislative Brief

The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office of Research and Education Accountability was asked to investigate the number of Tennesseans without health insurance. In response to this request, OREA produced a legislative brief in which several different sources and their respective methodologies were reviewed to understand differences in reported uninsured population totals.

The brief details population estimates that range from 8.3 percent to 12.2 percent of Tennesseans without health insurance. Differences in survey methodology and data retrieval explain most of the variation. More information can be found in the brief.
