This is the second installment in a two-part series meant to inform the Tennessee General Assembly on the current state of teacher professional development in the state’s K–12 public schools and to chart the changes to professional development scheduled to take place over the next few years. The brief describes the changes in professional development as a result of the state’s First to the Top initiative, analyzes changes to professional development policies and practices at the state and local level, and provides policy considerations.
