In 2012, Tennessee’s application for a waiver from specific requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act was approved by the United States Department of Education. The waiver’s terms include significant changes to the state’s accountability system and to the allocation of Title I funds. This document addresses what the waiver is, why the waiver was created, and how the waiver is being implemented in Tennessee.
